The following is a list of job duties and responsibilities designated to the Food Safety Manager. This position oversees all aspects of both the Food Safety and Quality Control department. Responsibilities are subject to be added to.
This position is responsible for overseeing and verifying compliance with the Food Safety and Quality.
Food Safety: Development of policy and program for all food safety programs Development, verification and implementation of the food processing HACCP program Verification of compliance with all company food safety policies and programs Employee training related to food safety policies and programs Decision making regarding all Unusual Occurrences related to food safety Compliance with all customer requirements Annual auditing and review of all food safety policies and programs (AIB, GFS, LGMA audits) Development and implementation of the company Microbiological program Oversee and verify the pest control program Development and execution of the Metrics as agreed upon Development and execution of SOP and SSOPs for the field, harvest crews, cooler and processing facilities Research and evaluate potential programs to maintain proactive in the implementation of new technology Job specific GAP, GMP and GHP documented auditing Oversee all third party auditing of growers, harvest crews, coolers and processing facility including documented corrective actions
Quality Control:Development of all company product specifications Compliance with all customer specifications Shelf life development and verification New product development including Research and Development of packaging and product performance Development of measures to implement and enforce quality compliance
Customer Relations:Handling customer tours and audits Handling customer complaints Communications with the Quality Control Department with customers Supply documentation of Quality and Food Safety verification and Compliance
Supplier Relations:Maintain communication with suppliers to verify compliance with all food safety and quality programs Supply information and provide technical assistance in food safety and quality Receive, audit and verify all documentation for compliance
Governmental, state, local and industry wide:
· Maintaining communications with all governmental, state, local and industry wide regulations to insure compliance with all requirements of food safety and quality regulations or guidance’s
· Supplying proper information to maintain
· Attend pertinent meetings relating the agricultural industry
Equipment and supplies:Research, development and price evaluation of equipment and instruments needed to help uphold the Research and company comparison in the investigation of technological improvements Procurement and protection of technical instruments needed for monitoring and technical applications Provide feedback on all machinery for the field and facility to insure food safety as well as adequate cleaning ability
Experience and Education required:
§ A minimum of 1-2 years working in Food Safety (produce)
§ Bilingual abilities (Write and speak, English and Spanish)
§ Experience in software applications such as outlook, Adobe, Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc)
§ Food Safety Certificate
§ Maintain and develop a computerized customer and prospect database.
