POSITION SUMMARY: The individual must conduct quality audits, perform pre-operational inspection of equipment and processing areas, gather and compile production samples, monitors and ensures compliance with plant HACCP, SSOP, quality and GMP programs. Assists QA manager with basic supervision and direction of 8-10 QA techs and act on behalf of QA manager in his/her absence. Conduct incoming ingredient inspections, be able to work on multiple tasks at a time while making decisions independently. The incumbent should have a minimum of 5 years QA experience in a USDA regulated facility. Must be able to travel to cold storage facility to conduct ingredient inspections, monitor the pest control program.
Supervise and train 8-10 QA non-exempt personnel
Manage Company/vendor audits, inspections and complaints
Possess knowledge of all products specifications and usage
Maintain compliance and swiftly ameliorate all non-compliance and deviation issues
Ensure all products received are up to specifications and meet USDA and “ “ high quality standards
Investigate complaints and initiate corrective action plans
Possess knowledge of proper storage procedures and conditions for all in-coming and out-going products and enforce FIFO rules
Develop or revise policies and procedures to improved efficiency and quality
Possess knowledge of recall handling procedures, and test recall handling programs for effectiveness
Conduct monitoring and testing to detect, control and eliminate micro-organism growth and institute corrective actions as appropriate
Ensure proper sanitation and pest control procedures are followed through knowledge of sanitation procedures (SSOP) and pest control procedures
Develop, implement and maintain the HACCP Program
Conduct GMP and HACCP training for the entire Company's Division
Manage Monthly Food Safety Audit
Ensure proper and effective information flow between middle management and senior management
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have BS or greater in Food Science or equivalent academic study.
