Summary: The purpose of the Maintenance Manger is to provide leadership and development to the Maintenance Department and personnel. Ensuring facility and grounds are maintained to meet the needs and requirements of a food processing facility.
Description of Duties: Develop and manage a Maintenance Organization of skilled maintenance personnel and development programs (apprentice and skill improvement programs) for the maintenance team.Maintain Production and Facilities Equipment such as Food processing and packaging technology, as well as support equipment such as refrigeration, waste water, and grounds. Develop and manage the Preventive Maintenance Program Manage the Parts Storage RoomDevelop and manage maintenance budget and cost saving opportunities Recognize cost saving opportunities and implement. Conduct employee performance reviews. Responsible for shift schedule to include: work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations. Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.Report on Projects, Maintenance shift coverage progress and issues, provide feedback on improvement areas. Coordinate with Vice President and Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels. Schedule and conduct shift meetings, safety meetings and quarterly safety audits. Responsible to coordinate and address maintenance issues to meet shift production goals and budget targets with production team. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs). Communicate effectively with other Supervisors, Director of Operations, Maintenance personnel, Operators and line personnel. Ensure a clean and safe work area. Complete shift paper work. Assist in production as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery. This is normally acquired through a minimum five years of manufacturing/processing experience. Familiarity with Electrical and Electronic Control Systems and ammonia refrigeration Five to ten years experience leading a Maintenance Organization in a high speed packaging manufacturing or processing plant, preferably food.Must be able to effectively supervise and direct a diverse work force, as well as excellent organizational skills.Ability to train, develop, and evaluate employees. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required.Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety knowledge and application
WORKING CONDITIONSWorking conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
