Develop and ensure the execution of the strategy and objectives for the R&D department for hydrolysates (bio-technology) for Infant, Cell, Diagnostics, and Sports Nutrition. Realize strategic projects and manage a group of Highly qualified professionals, in line with the functional and R&D strategy, in order to ensure the realization of the departmental objectives and strategy.
Main Accountabilities:
R&D strategy is approved and directs the activities within the assigned department/discipline
Year plan/budget is approved and gives direction to and control on the activities of the own department
Technological innovation contributes to the strategic development of our company
Maximal leverage of knowledge and developments within the organization
Allocation of resources is aligned with R&D strategy against minimized costs
Projects supporting business needs and priorities are realized
Information is available to make well-grounded decisions

Information and new ideas are used as input for R&D activities and access to relevant parties and (new) information is maintained

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES:
-Monthly R&D project reviews and semi-annual R&D reviews
-Liaison with R&D
-Interaction between M&S and R&D for customer support, product improvements, new product ideas and cost reductions.
-Interaction between manufacturing and R&D for process improvements, cost reductions and transition of new products and processes.
-Troubleshooting production and customer issues.
-Assist QC with calibration and implementation of new production lab equipment.
-Assist with design, development and transfer of new analytical test methods.
-Develop capital requests and equipment needs for the Product Transition Group.
-Participation in charter teams (ex. Quality, Cost Reduction and Operations)
-Participation in Change Control Board
Management Breadth Skills: Cooperates transcends own functional discipline, has multiple interfaces which requires extended communication.
Vision and Strategy R&D: Develops R&D vision and strategy for multiple disciplines/departments attuned with other departments and acts as sparring partner for R&D director
Complexity environment: Manages a highly innovative discipline and/or deals with a complex environment with different cultural influences
SUBORDINATES AND/OR BUDGET: Manages a group of up to 10 highly qualified professionals and/or manages a budget up to ? 1 million
RELATIONS MANAGEMENT: Manages external research on an operational level
