Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field. Graduate degree preferred.
Experience: 7+ years of industry experience in Food Manufacturing or related field. Preference is have specific experience with USDA manufacturing. 5+ years of this overall experience in a managerial or executive role.
Duties and Responsibilities include: Release products to either production or shipping only after all tests are complete and requirements are met. Develop and implement the Quality Control and Food Safety process, procedures and standards. Formulate, recommend and direct research and development programs designed to improve costs or quality or existing products or to introduce new products with commercial prospects. Develop a robust microbiological testing program for all locations that ensures product safety for consumers, complies fully with all regulatory expectations, and positions the Company as a leader in this area within the industry. Establish and manage internal audit programs for manufacturing plants, co-pack manufacturers, ingredient and packaging suppliers, and distribution partners. Oversee Customer and Consumer complaint response network, including product litigation claims. Stay ahead of changes within the regulatory agencies and industry. Develop working relationships with appropriate regulatory agencies and work as senior liaison in regards to Food Safety and Quality matters. Develop metrics and benchmarking for Company QA & FS performance. Standardize product quality evaluation procedures to maintain gold standard quality levels in flavor, texture, appearance and taste. Establish regular reviews at all plant locations and create a global review process in conjunction with production and Sales and Marketing.
